Ice Cream Time

Today Jenny, Daniel and I went to the Ice Cream Festival at Independence Park, which ended up being a dud, so we went to Elizabeth Creamery instead - which was much better.

I love the little chotsky stuff that comes out for Halloween - like this fang bag from Target.

Here is a close up of it. It's really just one of those cheap recyclable bags, but I think its A-DOR-A-BLE.

Tetsunori Kawana - Passages: Green Wall

Last week Jenny and I went to the Mint Museum to see bamboo artist Tetsunori Kawana's installation Passages: Green Wall.
Kawana allowed community volunteers to help him create this 20 x 20 x 82 foot passageway constructed of straight and split Madake bamboo.
The artist hopes that visitors will leave the installation with a sense of well-being and connectedness to the natural cycle of life.

Welcome to my home

Take a sneak peek into my house. It is quite small (cramped actually), but I try to make it feel "homey" by surrounding myself with things I love.

Art and decorations from friends, family, artist and places I love...oh and a few movies.

This apartment is even too small for a sofa :(

Utilizing every inch of space I have. Here is one of my make shift jewelry area in the hallway outside my bathroom.

This is another jewelry area. I made the jewelry holder by covering a cork board with some vintage fabric and painting the frame. I added small hooks to the bottom so I could hang necklaces from it.

Another one of my jewelry stations.

My glasses case I found in a dumpster (score!)

A few of my shoes (the rest are either boxed up or in a cluttery mess on the floor).

My collection of adorable embroidered shoes from China.

My current apartment is so small that the majority of my clothes are still in storage i.e. in boxes piled up to the ceiling in my room and kitchen. I hate not being able to have all my clothes and shoes readily available, but we have to make due right?

The new apartment search begins in two weeks!

Chow Down Uptown

Today Jenny, Daniel and I went uptown for CHOW DOWN UPTOWN and a free screening of The Addams Family @ Spirit Square to celebrate The Addams Family Musical coming to Charlotte in October...I can't wait for it!!!

foodies unite at an all-local food truck festival!

Tasty red velvet cake-pop (so cute!)

I was not able to take any photos of the McGlohon Theater where we watched The Addams Family, but it was beautiful - stained glass windows and Byzantine dome. Originally it was a church but was restored and reopened in 1980 as a showplace for live performances.

Missoni for Target:September 13

The signature Missoni zigzags are familiar, but these prices are not.

The luxury Italian home and fashion brand will release a collection for Target on Sept. 13 that will encompass more than 400 products. Target has teamed with John Derian and Liberty of London in the past; the forthcoming line will include Missoni's classic stripes, zigzags and abstract florals on bath towels ($10.99 to $12.99) and shower curtains ($34.99), shown above, as well as bedding, dinnerware, throw blankets, stationery, bicycles and outdoor furniture. Items will range from $3 to $600, but most products will be about $40.

The Missoni for Target collection will be available in stores and online Sept. 13 to Oct. 22. Select products will be available longer, some through early December, depending on availability.

-LA Times Blog

The collection will include items for the whole family. Ties and socks for men, body suits for baby, plenty of items for women and the majority of the collection pertaining to home goods. Most of their larger items will be sold exclusively online.

These are some of my favorite pieces:

B-52

Took my big sissy to see the B-52's this past Saturday.
The show was as expected. Full of old embarassing white folks "waxing the roof" (the white people version of raising the roof).
The weather was great, the show was fun and Kate Pierson was so cute!
I just wish they would have dressed more fun.

I even got this awesome Day of the Dead shirt.
